Volumetric weight: the number that surprises everyone

Carriers charge on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, and volumetric weight is calculated from the box dimensions. A large, light item can therefore be billed as if it were heavy.

The practical fix is to ask whether items will be compressed or repacked before dispatch, and to group bulky items with heavy ones so the box is dense rather than airy.

Corridor apparel rows now state their fabric weight

Why fabric weight changes a regional freight quote

Expansion

New apparel rows went up this month recording grams per square metre, because on Asia-Pacific lanes a heavier fleece shifts both the chargeable weight and the price you pay.

Inspection scope restated for corridor shipping

Revision

Inspection now states its boundary: colour, visible defects, the size tag, stitching and whether the item matches your notes. Smell, hand feel and long-term wear are outside it.

Each entry is dated. Corridor pricing and policy belong to Loongbuy's pages.
